The role of a facilitator in embracing technology in face-to-face and online session by Anthony Gioko
Facilitating professional learning sessions is an experience which keeps improving based on the facilitators need to improve, learning opportunities and availability of resources. This presentation explores the progression of the facilitation during nine year tenure. The focus will be tracking the role of technology in the facilitation. It looks as the facilitators learning opportunities through interaction, exposure and collaboration and how he has accessed resources and how they both impact the technology integration in the facilitation.
For facilitator the learning environment is crucial as it enables the realization of the goal. However the design of the learning environment will be determined by several factors including the facilitator’s ability to embrace continuous learning and access to resource to support the design. Technology plays key roles on the facilitation as it enhances organization, presentation and communication. This presentation tracked a facilitator who has shown great leaps in embracing technology to establish how the facilitator developed. Interviews, sample work and participants feedback has been analyzed to establish the development.
The most key element of the development was the reflective nature of the facilitator. The facilitator used the session as learning opportunities. The next key element for the development was exposure as the facilitator attended session and was ready to learn from each of the session the he attended. Finally the other key element was the drive to try out and this proved to be both a learning opportunity and a motivation. This element has seemed the facilitator embrace technology at an advanced level in his work.
