Workplace Learning: Using Knowledge as an enabler for work & performance improvements by Dolly Bhasin
I have been working on using knowledge as an enabler to address the 21st century skills and knowledge demand gap at the workplace. I would share my experiences and academic/practical approaches in my own pursuit to support the SME and Tourism Business. Some of my projects have already been implemented while others are lined up in the same arena which are geared towards integrated learning and service delivery environments.
The approach works on principles of active and authentic learning which is supported by knowledge repositories.
I am Dolly Bhasin, a resident of Delhi, India. A knowledge entrepreneur by choice and an Electronics & Communications Engineer by education. I founded a company SPH Consultancy & eServices to apply ICT & Knowledge as an enabler to solve the problem of fragmented industries like Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Tourism and Travel.
Started as a Sole Proprietor 12 years back and took the company as Private limited 4 years back. I still continue to address challenges in the Tourism and Travel domain and SMEs through innovative approaches of eLearning, emarketing and epublishing. Have created over 2 Lakh pages of value added information on Indian SMEs through 40 projects. Trained over 35,000 insurance entrepreneurs through elearning and used Knowledge driven informal learning for 5000 SME CEOs in India. I have handled half a dozen custom training programmes for Govt officials from 20 countries on SME Competitiveness.
Two of my projects have received multiple awards for eGovernance services. Have conceptualized and executed many global conferences and seminars for SMEs, Women Entrepreneurs and ePublishing. Have twice been invited to chair international conferences on e-education in Delhi (2006) and Edinburgh (2007) by EU project BELIEF. Have been an invited keynote speaker at Italian and ASEAN summits and continue to use event drive knowledge dissemination as a key tool in my journey.
Personally, I have received MASTERCARD scholarship, Univ of Nottingham Scholarship and Goldman Sach Scholarship for furthering my own skills and knowledge. I am also a gold medalist for my academic performance in Engineering.
My current goal is to address the 21st century skills and knowledge demand gap at the workplace to support the SME and Tourism Business. I have multiple projects lined in the same arena which are geared towards integrated learning and service delivery environments.
