First year University students use of Facebook for Learning Engagement with Lenandlar Singh
This presentation will present a survey of first year university students use of Facebook as a learning management system. The cases presented use observation data from students Facebook activity in a class group, and data from exit surveys. The data suggests that students are inclined to use Facebook to engage with teaching and learning activities and communicate with fellow students and lecturers.

Lenandlar Singh is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Guyana. He has over 10 years experience teaching Computer Science and Information Technology at the Tertiary level. He is also the current Assistant Chief Examiner for CAPE Information Technology with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). His research interest is centered in the areas of User Interface Design and Evaluation, Computer Science Education and E-learning, and Social Networks in Education. Mr. Singh has supervised over 40 undergraduate computer science research projects, presented and published a number of articles, and is the co-author of a book. His latest works focus on the Use of Social Networks in Education.
