About the Presenters:

Nicola Avery: Nicola Avery started career as a primary teacher and first experiences of helping people explore the mysteries of technologies within a hospital encouraging medical staff to meet and use the web for the first time. 14 years experience in advising, designing and delivering learning technology and web based collaboration projects. According to previous manager “Lives, breathes and sleeps this stuff”

Recently worked as an online collaboration with the UK National Policing Improvement Agency, with a new online collaborative platform through which the police could connect with each other, governments and agencies using blogs, wikis and online communities, developing reach to 13,000 members and 200+ communities. As an eLearning Adviser at Surrey, led a special interest group on Second Life and virtual worlds including collaboration on a JISC project developing artificially intelligent avatars and environments. Within the global learning technology team at PriceWaterhouseCoopers – managed design, development and evaluation of eLearning projects for elearning specialists and instructional designers including modules on adult learning theory, scriptwriting skills, instructional design, virtual classrooms and evaluation.

Since completing CIW Master Designer – designed and collaborated on a range of open source projects including blogs, wikis and social networks, including working with London Crisis Camp team to support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Currently working on several blog projects including collaborating with a water sanitation research centre at Surrey University, for the 3Ksan project; and the One Change A Day blog calendar.

Liz Renshaw: Liz is an experienced teacher, and educational leader, in Adult Literacy, Language and Numeracy having worked in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for 30 years. Operated in range of diverse contexts to support a range of learners access LLN services. Skilled in analysing and applying, adult Literacy/numeracy teaching practices as well as implementing and evaluating delivery of LLN to adults. Designed and developed pre training customised LLN assessments for both LLN learners and vocational students in trade areas. Early adopter and passionate about the affordances social networking tools and technologies offer to change pedagogies in the LLN areas. Faculty leader of innovative projects focused on topics such as personalised learning, organisational change, and building e learning capabilities. Have presented at conferences on technology, learning and changed LLN practices.
Director of Modeller’s Shipyard an internet based business specialising in wooden period model ship kits. Creator, administrator and trainer in Model Ship Building College Learning Centre which utilising Moodle 2.0 as its VLE.

Liz, started life as a primary school teacher and found a better place in adult education, gained numerous qualifications including Masters in Adult Education, and Grad Dip in Adult Basic Education. Currently immersed in the open learning worlds of Change11 a MOOC, Digital Story Telling, and Networked teacher. Working collaborative to curate One Change a Day blog calendar. Lover of yoga, bromeliads and growing vegetables.
